Posts Season-Best Second-Place Finish at
Lawton Speedway

Promotions - LAWTON, Okla. (June 23,
2015) - Cody Wampler is inching closer
to his first victory of the season.
Wampler led
several laps before posting a runner-up
result in the Randall Buzbee owned champ
sprint last Saturday at Lawton Speedway.
"Overall we
have a long way to go, but everything
stayed together so that was a positive,"
he said. "We're going to take it to the
chassis dyno this week to fine-tune it."
Wampler kicked
off the event by advancing from third to
second place during a heat race.
"We fell to
fourth on the start," he said. "The
motor was still a little rich and
wouldn't take off. We rolled the corners
nice and that's what got us a couple of
positions."
He then lined
up on the outside of the second row for
the main event.
"I was up to
second on the opening lap or two," he
said. "I took the lead about Lap 3 or 4
and I led for seven or eight laps. I
just made a few mistakes. The line I was
running had some ruts. It would be
pretty good if I made a good corner, but
I made some mistakes. A guy got by me on
the top and I could never make that back
up. I could stay with him and made a
couple of decent runs, but he was
definitely a faster car."
Wampler's
second-place finish marked his first top
five of the season.
"I'm very
optimistic about where we were running
and what we have to improve on," he
said. "I feel confident we'll get better
and win a race soon."
Wampler will
take this weekend off before returning
to action on July 4 at Lawton Speedway.
